At WCSD, we are grounded by our commitment to take the burden of facilities development and project management off a charter operator’s plate and allow them to stay primarily focused on teaching and learning. Our philanthropic partners have been important drivers of that work, allowing us to invest time, expertise, and resources to lead each project to successful completion.
We are also deeply committed to helping our charter school partners grow, expand their reach, and become catalysts for change in their communities. Our funders’ support of our region-based growth model has allowed us to make deep, meaningful investments across the cities we work in to expand our impact.
Since 2013, WCSD has deployed a pool of more than $60 million in philanthropic equity, allowing us to invest low-cost capital to help make facilities development more financially sustainable for qualified charter schools.
Washington Charter School Facilities Fund
The Washington Charter School Facilities Fund is a new financing model launched by WCSD. The Fund will provide loans and grants to support the acquisition and development of affordable facilities for new and emerging charter public schools in Washington state, increasing access to capital needed for schools to open and expand their operations and classroom capacity.
